Out of state retailers with sales shipped to California customers can “play it safe” by collecting and remitting sales tax to the Board of Equalization
California State Board of Equalization has tools for out of state retailers that want to collect and remit California sales tax for orders shipped to customers in California. If the sales or leases are not subject to a special district tax, you should report tax at the statewide base rate, which is currently 7.50 percent. (If you are located out of state you generally will not be subject to district tax)
